A charming Chinese late Ming period dish with underglaze blue decoration of horses and hares.  The dish has a central decoration of a chrysanthemum flower, and around the rim alternatimg panels of horses and hares separated by various diaper pattern designs.  The back of the dish is undecorated apart from two underglaze blue circles around the rim and the foot.  Diameter 15.4cm (6.1")

Dating: Tianqi or Chongzhen c1620-40

Condition.  There are two small rim chips, with a hairline extending from the larger of these for ~1.5cm.  The dish has warped during firing.  These is kiln grit adhering to the glaze on the foot rim (as is frequently found with this kind of dish).
