A good quality and finely-potted small Chinese plate, decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the Kangxi period. The decoration on this plate has been done with very delicate tones of cobalt blue, and depicts in the centre a flowering prunus tree with another plant emerging from rocks beside it, and the sun overhead. Around the rim are further sprays of prunus blossom. The white colour of the blossom has been depicted by using a pale wash of cobalt blue to outline the flowers. The reverse of the plate has three further prunus sprays around the rim, and a 6-character Chenghua mark within double underglaze blue circles to the base. Diameter 16.1 cm (6.3")
