A small Chinese export shell-shaped dish, decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the Qianlong period. The front of the dish is decoratd with a bold central peony flower and within a patterned border. The handle is decorated with a diaper pattern. The reverse of the dish is moulded into ribs and has a simple band of decoration around the rim. There are stilt marks where the dish was supported in the kiln during firing. Length 10.6cm (4.2"), depth 2.5cm (1").
Dating: Qianlong c1760-80
Condition: Filled chips to the pointed tips of the flat handle, and one flat area to one tip. No other damage.
