An attractive and finely potted octagonal chinese bowl from the Hatcher Cargo. Each of the panels is decorated with a floral spray. The base retains its sticker from the sale of the Hatcher Collection at Christie’s Amsterdam in June 1984. Width 9.5cm (3.8”). Chongzhen or Shunzhi c1643.
A group of similar bowls are shown in plate 110 in ‘The Hatcher Porcelain Cargoes’ by Sheaf and Kilburn
Condition: One shallow chip from the rim, together with some other small glaze frits and chips around the rim. A faint line is visible inside the bowl which appears to be in the glaze only, and is not visible from the outside of the bowl. The glaze is in good condition, with only minor ‘softening’ from submersion.
