A Chinese hexagonal tile decorated in underglaze blue and dating from the Kangxi period. The tile is decorated with flowering plants and grasses emerging from decorative rockwork and with insects flying above. The sides and the base of the tile are unglazed. Width 14.7 cm (5.8") and thickness 1.5 cm (0.6").
Date: Kangxi c1720.
Condition: there is and old shallow chip to one corner of the base, and a small manufacturing flaw to one side of the base where there is a small hole in the body. The sides and the base of the tile are quite dirty from use.
