A Chinese export soft paste double-handled chocolate cup and trembleuse saucer, dating from the Qianlong period. Both the cup and saucer are lightly moulded with panels and are decorated with scattered underglaze blue flower sprays. Saucer diameter 13.6cm (5.4”)
The trembleuse saucer design is a practical one - the small raised rim in the centre of the saucer holds the cup steady even if hands are unsteady!
Dating: Qianlong (1736-1795)
This set is in excellent condition. The saucer is undamaged with no chips, crcks or restoration. The cup has a very small and shallow chip near the rim (~3mm), and a small area of glaze fritting at the rim. No other damage. The rims of both the cup and saucer shows faint signs of gilding, now almost completely lost.
