An attractive and good quality Chinese dragon plate, decorated in underglaze blue and dating from the Kangxi period. The plate is decorated in the centre with a four-clawed dragon reaching for a flaming pearl within double underglaze blue circles. The rim is decorated with a band of swirls, breaking waves and flower heads. The reverse is decorated around the rim with plants and precious objects, and to the base with a six-character Chenghua mark within double underglaze blue circles. Diameter 15.8cm (6.2")

Condition. This plate is in excellent, undamaged, condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There are three small firing flaws behind the rim - please see our images.
