A large and handsome Chinese export famille verte serving platter dating from the late Kangxi period. The centre of the platter is decorated with a tree with multi-coloured flowers, and with large peony flowers. The border of the dish is decorated with a diaper pattern in iron red, with spots of green at the centres, and with gilt chrysanthemum flowers. The reserves in the corners are painted with flower sprays. The rim is moulded and decorated with a 'piecrust' type pattern. The back of the platter is decoratd under the rim with four further flower sprays. The base is unglazed. Length of platter 36cm (14.2"), width 26cm (10.2")
Date: Late Kangxi c1720
Condition: There are a number of small chips and glaze frits around the raised rim inside the edge of the platter. There is some wear and losses to the enamels from use, and small areas of stacking wear to the glaze. Please examine our photographs. No cracks and no restoration.
