A near pair of decorative Chinese famille verte plates with lobed rims, dating from the Kangxi period. Each plate is decorated centrally with overglaze famille verte enamels with a book bound with a ribbon, scrolls and a vase of flowers. The rim of each plate is decorated with four further books bound with ribbons. The back of ech plate is undecorated, and there is an underglaze blue seal script mark to the base, probably reading 'Fu' (good fortune). Diameter 21.2cm (8.3"). Kangxi c 1710-20.
Label for Lynn Greenwold Antiques on each.
Condition: both plates have glaze fritting and glaze loss around the rims, most marked on the plate on the right in the first photograph which also has a number of small and shallow glaze chips from behind the rim. Both plates have some stacking wear to the enamels - please see our photographs. No significant chips, no cracks and no restoration.
