A Chinese export cream jug with added European decoration of a stag hunt scene in typical style with a man in a pink coat chasing two deer, and with two figures in conversation on the other side. Height 10 cm.
Provenance: From the collection of Jill McNeile.
Date: Qianlong circa 1750 to 1775
Condition: the enamels are in good bright condition, although the gilding applied around the rim and surrounding the enamelled panels is substantially worn away. The glaze of the jug is roughly textured, perhaps caused in the re-firing when the stag hunt scene was applied. The original lid is missing.
