A Chinese octagonal plate decorated in underglaze blue with eight leaf shaped panels filled with tight spirals and with a central underglaze blue flower decoration. The plate has been later decorated in Europe including central flower heads and a central butterfly, and around the rim with red and gilt flower heads against a green cracked ice design. Diameter of the plate is 21 cm at its largest extent.
Date: late Kangxi or Yongzheng c 1720-30
Condition: there is one short hairline from the rim extending around 1.5 cm and only really visible at the back of the plate. There are a few shallow chips to the brown-dressed rim of the plate. The gilt spiral decoration is in reasonably good condition with only a little stacking wear.
