A good quality pair of Chinese plates, profusely decorated in underglaze blue and with overglaze enamels and gilding in the late famille verte style, and dating from the late Kangxi to early Yongzheng period. Each plate is decorated in the centre with ducks swimming amidst lotus plants and flowers, and with further flowers and insects outside this. The cavetto is decrated in underglaze blue with applied gilding and with reserved panels of fish and shrimps. The rim is attractively decorated with alternating panels of ducks and flowers. The back of each plate id decorated with three flower sprays and with further fish and shrimps around the rim. An astonishing amount of decoration on each plate! Diameter 22.3cm (8.4”)
Dating: Kangxi to Yongzheng c 1720-30
One plate is in excellent, undamaged, condition. The other plate has two small and shallow chips from the back of the rim and a few tiny frits to the brown dressing on the rim - please see our images.
