A good quality Chinese export saucer dish, finely potted and translucent, decorated in Meissen style with famille rose overglaze enamels and gilding and dating from the Qianlong period. The dish has been finely painted with a European townscape scene, with a river running through the town. In the foreground a man is raising his fishing net and behind him two groups of figures are talking. The scene is contained within a decorative gilt border. The dish has a gilt band at the rim. Diameter 15.4cm (6").
Date: Qianlong c1740-50
Condition: there is a short (~1cm) consolidated hairline at the rim. No other damage. There is some rubbing to the gilt band at the rim, and slight loss of detail to the gilt surround to the central scene.
