A large famille rose Chinese export plate with petal shaped rim, attractively decorated with flowers in a European style ('Chine de commande'), and dating from the Qianlong period. The border has a gilt decoration. Diameter 31.5 cm. (12.4")
It has been suggested that this type of bold floral decoration in European style could have been copied from a textile pattern.
Date: early Qianlong circa 1740 to 1750.
Condition: A shallow chip from the centre of the base beneath the plate and some glaze fitting around the room. No other damage and no restoration.
