A Chinese export famille rose set, comprising a teapot, tea canister and milk jug, decorated in 'Mandarin' pattern and dating from the Qianlong (1736-95) period. All three items are decorated in typical detailed style with fine red and black diaper ground and with reserved panels with figures. All three items have the same scene of a man seated on low rockwork and holding a fan, with two female figures and a boy. Height of teapot including lid 14cm (5.5").
Condition: the teapot is in excellent undamaged condition. The tea canister has a clean break at the base which has been re-stuck: this not easy to see from the side, but can be seen from underneath - see images. The milk jug has a chip to the lid, and loss of the tip of the handle. Both the teapot and milk jug have rubbing to the gilding on the handle and to the spout of the teapot. All three have rubbing to the gilding on the knop of the lid.
Despite these faults to the canister and jug, this is an attractive set which displays well.
