An attractive Chinese export tea canister decorated en grisaille and dating from the Qianlong period. The canister is decorated on two sides with the figure of Jupiter holding aloft thunderbolts, with his animal companion the eagle below, all beneath a grisaille border. Height 10.5cm (4.1")

Dating: Qianlong c 1750
Condition. This canister is in excellent condition. There is one small and shallow chip from underneath the foot. No other damage and no restoration. There is rubbing and loss to the gilding around the base, and the original lid is missing.
