A Chinese silk purse with cockerel decoration c1900
An attractive Chinese silk 2-compartment purse with silk embroidery and a linen back. The cream-coloured silk of the purse has been embroidered with gold and coloured silks with a cockerel in a garden setting. The flap covering the front pocket is embroidered in black with Chinese text. The purse has a blue and yellow braid edging and the front flap is edged with a green and yellow braid. The purse dates from c1900 and is 12.3 cm / 4.8" wide.
There is some light fading to the cream coloured silk ground on the front of the purse, and dust marking to the linen back of the purse. Please examine our photographs.
