SOLD

A good, richly woven and early Chinese silk brocade panel in a card mount, dating from the late Ming period.  The rich green silk background of the panel is woven with a design of a red trellis running from top to bottom, with the spaces between woven with cranes, Buddhist emblems and lingzhi fungus in coloured and gold silks.  Dimension of the visible brocade panel is 64 x 8.5 cm (25.1" x 3.3").  The overall dimensions including the card backing is 72 x 16.5cm (28.3" x 6.5")

Our photographs do not show well the gold thread which fills the red trellis, which in practice gives the surface of the panel a lively effect when viewed in light.

The panel is in good condition, with some wear and losses to the gold threads (please examine our photographs).
