A set of 5 Chinese silk appliqués of differently-coloured fish, associated with tenacity and abundance, on their original paper backing, probably early C20th, embroidered in fine satin stitch These would possibly have been sold by itinerant pedlars for sewing on to garments for those who lacked the wherewithal to carry out or commission their own embroidery.
Each fish c 8½ cm x 5½ cm. Panel c. 63cm.
Condition very good, some spotting and staining to paper backing. Please see photographs.
