An attractive small Chinese silk purse or etui in two parts dating from around 1900. The purse exterior is embroidered with flowers, a fish, a donkey and symbols on an orangey-red silk background.
The inner purse part has an orange back and a blue silk background to the front, with 2 small embroidered compartments plus a central embroidered motif.
There is some discolouration to the exterior silk and some thread losses to the borders revealing the marking lines of the pattern. The orange back of the inner purse is a little faded and discoloured. The front of the inner purse is in good condition with one or two very tiny holes to the blue background.
At its widest the outer purse is 70 mm wide and 87 mm high (2 ¾ x 3 ½ inches).
