An early C20th Chinese silk neck pendant, with two phoenixes facing each other in the middle section, richly embroidered mainly in brick stitch with fine gilt couching. Backed in blue silk brocade.
Depth 28cm without fringe, 43cm with fringe; 29 ½ cm wide across the birds’ tails.
Condition excellent: Tarnishing to the three metal discs. The means of attaching the collar is lacking. Please see photographs.
Note: A modern ribbon is pinned to the neck corners for hanging purposes.
