A Chinese export coffee cup decorated in England with bianco sopra bianco white enamel and coloured enamel scenes of a stag hunt. A small point of interest is that the handle of the cup appears to have lost an area of glaze in the 18th century and the missing glaze has been over-painted in England as a green leaf. Height of cup 6 cm.
Provenance: From the collection of Jill McNeile.
Date: circa 1760 to 1775
Condition: Two small chips inside the foot rim. The gilding which was applied to surround the stag hunt scenes and inside the rim of the cup is substantially rubbed away.
