An attractive Chinese export underglaze blue sparrow- beak cream jug with European Imari decoration of standing figures in oriental dress and flower sprays in overglaze blue & red enamels and gilding. The Chinese underglaze blue decoration of flower sprays around the body of the jug is of a very pale tone. Height 10cm ( 4”)
Date: Kangxi or Yongzheng c 1720-35
Condition: the jug would originally have had a cover.There is a small chip to the tip of the spout which has been enamelled over and the chip was probably done in the Eighteenth Century. There is a faint stress crack around the top of the handle.
