A small Chinese dish or tray with shaped rim, decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the Kangxi period. The centre of the dish is decorated with a phoenix in flight above a flowering bush. The rim of the dish is decorated with alternating panels of flowers and birds, and stylised flower heads in reserve against a blue ground. The reverse of the dish is decorated with two flower sprays around the rim. Diameter 16.3 cm (6.4")
Provenance: from the Kaars Sijpesteijn Family Collection of Chinese Blue and White Porcelain. It is possible that this dish copies the form of a Dutch delftware original.
Dating: Kangxi c 1700 - 1720
Condition:
Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is a little glaze fritting around the rim
