The first catalogue is entitled ‘Visions of Enlightenment’ and is the sale of the Speelman collection of Important Early Ming Buddhist Bronzes. 136 pages with 14 superb examples of Ming bronzes well-illustrated in colour and with detailed descriptions. Introductory essay by David Wheldon. Excellent condition with just a few surface marks to the covers from handling.
The second catalogue is entitled ‘Classicism in Continuum - the Arts of the Ming’. 178 pages with 28 fine Ming period Chinese works of art well-illustrated in colour and with detailed descriptions, including Ming porcelain, a selection of rhinoceros horn carvings and the Emperor Wanli’s throne platform carpet. Excellent condition with just a few surface marks to the covers from handling.
A well-produced pair of sale catalogues with very fine examples of Ming period works of art.
