A good quality and brightly decorated Chinese deep plate with rib-moulded rim, and with Dutch enamel decoration in a blend of Imari and Kakiemon styles, dating from the Yongzheng period. The centre of the dish is painted with a garden scene with a bird perched in a flowering tree looking at a grasshopper sitting on a leaf. The rim of the dish is decorated in panels with alternating scenes of parrots and other birds with flowers and 'banded hedges', and of a figure fishing from a boat on a lake. The reverse is undecorated. Diameter 22.5cm (8.9").
We have a pair of these dishes available.
Provenance: Cabinet Portier, Paris
Date: Yongzheng (1723-35)
Condition: very good condition. There is glaze fritting around the rim, and a few small chips to the foot rim. There is a shallow chip from inside the foot, shown in our last photograph, which may have been caused in firing. No cracks or restoration.
