A Chinese verte Imari child and lotus dish, Yongzheng

A good quality small Chinese moulded dish with shaped rim, decorated with iron red, green and aubergine enamels and gilding, and dating from the Yongzheng period.  The rim of the dish is moulded into 6 panels, each of which is decorated with a stylised lotus flower.  The centre of the dish is decorated with a boy holding the stem of a lotus plant, from which a lotus leaf, bud and flower issue.  The boy's trousers are decorated with green and aubergine enamels.  The base of the dish has an underglaze blue seal mark within double circles.  Diameter 13cm (5.1")

Date: Yongzheng (1723-35)

Condition: There is a small amount of fritting to the glaze around the rim, and one small and shallow glaze frit from the back of the rim.  There is a short firing flaw in the base of the dish which does not extend through the body of the dish.  There is wear to the gilding around the rim.  Please see our photographs.
