An interesting example of a Chinese export famille rose teapot decorated in the 'Mandarin' style, and dating to the Qianlong period c1770. The teapot is decorated to each side with a scene of figures in a garden, with a distand view across a lake. The main subject appears to be a man undergoing acupuncture to his foot surrounded by onlookers, includng two women observing through a window. The handle and spout are surrounded by decoration in iron red and black enamels with birds and foliage. This same decoration occurs on the lid. Width of teapot including spout 21cm (8.3")
An interesting subject.
Date: Qianlong c1770
Condition: The teapot and cover are in good, undamaged, condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. The gilding on the spout, handle, body of the teapot and knop is substantially worn.
