A Chinese famille rose '2 quail' teapot stand, Qianlong

A Chiese famille rose teapot stand of hexagonal form, dating from the Qianlong period.  The centre has been decorated with two quail under a flowering peony which is emerging over the wall of a garden, with its trunk visible through a window in the wall.  The rim of the dish is decorated with a band of diaper pattern alternating with small flower heads.  Diameter 13.2cm (5.2")

The decoration of two quail (shuang an) has the meaning of 'harmony'.

Date: Qianlong c1740-50

Condition.  The teapot stand has one very small rim chip, and some wear to the enamels in the centre from use.  Please examine our photographs.
