A good Chinese plate with panel-moulded rim, decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the Kangxi period. The centre of the plate is decorated with peony, lotus and chrysanthemum flowers, and the rim has a cracked ice design with kraak-style panels containing further flower spays. The reverse is decorated with precious objects around the rim, and a band of flames around the foot rim. The base has the mark Qi yu bao ding zhi zhen (precious as a treasured ding of rare jade) to the base within underglaze blue circles. Old label to the base. Diameter 22.5cm (8.9").
Date: Kangxi c 1700-20
Condition: this plate is in very good condition. There is some glaze fritting to the rim, and a small and shallow glaze chip at the back of the rim. No cracks and no restoration.
