An early 20th century boy's silk tiger hat, embroidered with the Chinese character for 'king' on the top, symbolising the wish to confuse evil spirits and protect the wearer. The body of the tiger is in orange with blue/black and green braid borders. The protuberant eyes, nose and the attached tail are in stumpwork. Lining in pale green striped cotton. Size: 19cm across eyes when flat. Back seam c 31cm
Condition: Good. Light surface marks to the orange body. A few areas of fraying to borders. Please see photographs.
