A Chinese late Ming shallow dish decorated in underglaze blue with a landscape scene with two scholars playing weiqi on a rocky promontory and another figure crossing a bridge in the foreground. The rim has a quickly painted decoration of leaf scrolls. The reverse is undecorated apart from underglaze blue circles at the rim and foot. Diameter 20 cm. (7.9")
Date: late Ming circa 1600 to 1640.
Condition: this plate is in very good condition with a small amount of rim fritting and some pinholing to the glaze on the underside.
