A small Chinese export teabowl in Meissen style, Meissen mark Qianlong

SOLD

Code: 271206

A small and finely-potted Chinese export teabowl decorated with famille rose enamels in Meissen style and dating from the Qianlong period.  The cup is decorated in two ornate panels with European figures standing in a landscape. A tulip has been painted inside the teabowl.  The base has a pseudo Meissen crossed swords mark in pale blue overglaze enamel.  Diameter 5.5cm (2.2")

Provenance: from the collection of Bernard Watney, and with his collection label inside.

Date: Qianlong c 1750

Condition: there is a stained hairline from the rim, around 1.5cm long.  This is more easily seen on the interior of the cup than on the exterior.  The gilding on the rim has mostly rubbed away.
